Inspection & Assessment
Once our representatives have a better understanding of your situation, we’ll send a team of licensed professionals out to your property to further assess the damage that has occurred. After a detailed inspection of your property and the affected areas of the structure, we’ll determine the best course of action to take. Before scheduling your professional water damage inspection, learn more about the process and what to expect.
What Should I Expect from a Water Damage Inspection & Assessment?
To provide the best possible plan for you and your property, our emergency restoration team will develop their assessment based on the following criteria:
Finding the water source
The first step of the inspection process is to identify what caused the unwanted water in the first place. Is there a crack or burst pipe in the plumbing system? Is there a leak hidden beneath your walls? Whatever the case, our experts are able to pinpoint the source of the problem quickly and efficiently.
Identifying the type of water
Once the source of the problem is found, it’s important to identify the category and classification of water in your home or business. The type of water will determine the cleanup process used to restore and rebuild your build. Typically, there are three types of water:
- Category: Water that is free of contamination (i.e., water from a leaking sink faucet or from a broken water heater)
- Category: Also called greywater, this type of water is contaminated but not highly toxic (i.e., water from a broken washing machine or dishwasher or from kitchen and bath pipes)
- Category: Also called blackwater, this type of water is highly contaminated and extremely toxic (i.e., water from a toilet or sewage overflow)
Determining the extent of the damage
Our team will carefully inspect your property for visible and non-visible damage in addition to any other health or safety concerns.
Once these inspection items are completed, our team will outline a personalized action plan for you where we’ll explain our findings and next steps. Once we get approval from the property owner, we can get started on the water damage restoration and repair process.
